She was born March 5, 1915 in Pleasant Hill, IL to Floyd Orville and Clara Myrtle Hemphill Taylor. Veta was raised in Illinois and Idaho where she received her education.
On September 28, 1935 she married Ralph Stephen Moss in Ririe, Idaho. They were later sealed together in the Salt Lake City Temple on January 5, 1938. Ralph and Veta made their home in several towns throughout southeast Idaho. They lived in Ririe, Idaho Falls, Leadore, Moore, Antelope and Arco. They celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary in September of 2005.
Veta worked hard her entire life. She was a cook at the Club Cafe and Royal Bakery for many years. She also worked at the Idaho Potato Growers Association. Her greatest concern in life was that of being a wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother.
Veta was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served as a primary teacher, Sunday school teacher, visiting teacher and visiting teacher supervisor. She was an avid gardener, landscaper, artist and a fantastic bread and pie maker. Veta also liked to dance with Ralph.
Surviving is her husband, Ralph Moss, Arco, ID; three daughters, Sharon Genter, Meridian, ID, Barbara Thornton (Robert), Arco, ID and Vicki Toder (Gary), West Jordan, UT; two sisters, Margaret Mabey, Burley, ID and Charlotte Ward, Las Vegas, NV; thirteen grandchildren, twenty great-grandchildren and five great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Diana Moss, parents, Floyd and Clara Hemphill Taylor, grandparents, Joseph and Maggie Gresham Taylor and Robert and Amanda Browdy Hemphill, a son-in-law, Don Genter, a brother, Floyd Taylor, sisters, Ona Shippen and Louise Garner, and two granddaughters.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, April 18, 2006 at 11:00 a.m. at the Arco LDS Ward Chapel with Bishop Carl Farmer conducting. A viewing was held Monday evening from 7 to 9:00 p.m. at the Hawker Lost River Funeral Chapel, 345 Sunset Dr., Arco, ID 83213. Interment was in the Ririe-Shelton Cemetery.
