Helena was born in Germany and came to this country with her parents in 1873 when she was four years old. She was a homemaker and was involved in her Presbyterian church and the missionary society. She passed away from injuries sustained in a car accident. Her sister Fredericke "Rica" Koopman was also in the accident but survived her injuries.
