Mr. Thomas Lee Crowell, age 87, of Elizabethtown, Kentucky formerly of Murray, Kentucky, died Monday, December 22, 2014 at his home.
Mr. Crowell was born August 17, 1927 in Calloway County, Kentucky to the late Martin & Iola Wilson Crowell. He retired from the Tappan Manufacturing Company and Westview Nursing Home where he was the maintenance supervisor. He was also preceded in death by his brother, James "J.W." Walter Crowell; sisters, Gracie Mae Crowell, Nadean Smith, and Lurlean Becker.
He was a veteran of the United States Army and served during WWII. Following his service, he married Opal Smith Crowell in Corinth, Mississippi on May 28, 1948.
He was an avid hunter and fisherman who could often be seen fishing on the lakes around his home.
Prior to moving to Elizabethtown, he was a longtime dedicated member of the Mt. Carmel Baptist Church in New Concord, Kentucky.
He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Opal Smith Crowell; two daughters, Suzette Moghadamian (Mo) and Kathy Glaze (Craig); six grandchildren, Eric Moghadamian (Kris Ann), Brent Moghadamian, Lanessa Coulon (Christian), Leslie Klosterman (Keith), Wes Miller, and Thomas Glaze; seven great grandchildren, Fox Coulon, Pixel Coulon, Moxie Coulon, Thomas Klosterman, James Klosterman, John Klosterman, and Avery Moghadamian; several nieces and nephews; and many friends.
The funeral service will be at 2:00pm Saturday at the Blalock-Coleman & York Funeral Home with Rev. William B. Miller and Russell Moss officiating. The burial will follow in the McCuiston Cemetery and friends may visit the family from 5:00pm to 8:00 pm Friday at the funeral home.
