No.21 Sqn Bristol Blenheim IV V6321 YH-Z crewed by Sgt. Henry Percival Hartridge RCAF (R/58086) Pilot, aged 21, Sgt. Kenneth Buck Minty RAF (975773) Wireless Operator/Air Gunner aged 22 and Sgt. Charles Douglas Phillips RAF (970558) Bomb Aimer, took off as one of six aircraft from Manston at 1400 hrs on an anti-shipping operation against a convoy off Zuydcoote (département du Nord, France). Escorted by fighters, they attacked a 4,000 ton tanker, itself escorted by 4 flak ships. The aircraft crashed in the Scheldt Estuary (2 miles North of Oostende) with all crew killed when shot down by a flak ship after attacking a tanker 2 miles north of Oostende.
