She was born Nov. 25, 1922, in Marlinton, West Virginia, the daughter of the late Dennis Jackson and Mary Moore Jackson.
On October 25, 1941 she married James Ray Mundell who predeceased her on May 21, 1967.
Stella was the eldest and last surviving of six children. Her identical twin sister, Della Layman, sister, Opal Weatherholt, brother, Dennis Jackson Jr., sister, Creola Boling, and brother, Donald Jackson, all preceded her in death.
She enjoyed duck pin bowling and collecting Barbie dolls, Beanie Babies and vintage glassware. She also loved the volunteers from Meals on Wheels who gave her such companionship and stability in her later years.
Stella was employed for 20 years as a Supervisor of Data Processing at American Security and Trust in Washington, D.C. After relocating to Staunton in the 70's, she worked as a Nursing Assistant and CMT at Oak Hill Nursing Home for over 25 years, retiring when she was 85 years old.
A memorial service will be Nov. 15, 2014, at 2 p.m. at The Marquis Memorial Methodist Church, 1611 West Beverly Street, Staunton, VA 24401.
