Wheelock, Cyrus Hubbard, president of the Northern States Mission from 1878 to 1879, was born Feb. 28, 1813, in Henderson, Jefferson Co., N. Y., a son of Asa Wheelock and Lucy Hubbard. He was baptized Sept. 1, 1839, filled a mission to Vermont, and other missions to the States in early days. His labor with Governor Ford in behalf of the Prophet Joseph Smith and others, while they were incarcerated in Carthage jail, is a matter of history. He was a gifted orator, and was set apart May 6, 1878, as president of the Northern States Mission, then comprising Michigan, Wisconsin, Minnesota, Iowa and Illinois. He returned in August, 1879, and died Oct. 11, 1894, in Mt. Pleasant, Utah.
