The tombstone of Archie is recognized by two parking meters. Arnold, a prankster in life, arranged to have his tomb marked on either side by antique parking meters, with their dials set to "EXPIRED." He knew that he was dying from liver disease, so he decided on his final practical joke. The idea began when in Hicksville, Ohio, Archie backed over two parking meters. After paying for their replacements, he asked the Sheriff if he could have the damaged meters. He took them home, put new pipes on for the stands, painted them black, welded the coin slot so it couldn't be changed, and modified his will. He stated that upon his death, one was to be placed on each end of his monument.
