Mrs. Hale was born June 30, 1931 in Buncombe County. She retired after 42 years from Burlington Industries. She was a member of Elk Mountain Baptist Church and an honorary member of East Columbia Pentecostal Holiness Church. She was a daughter of the late Hollis George and Bessie Waycaster Israel and wife of the late James Arnold Hale who died in 1981. Mrs. Hale was preceded in death by her sisters, Emma Rash, Evelyn Sprinkle, Glovine Baxter, and Mamie Wilson.
Surviving are her son, Michael Hale and wife Susan of Hopkins, SC; sisters, Elizabeth Wild, and Eloise Freeman both of Gastonia; one grandson, Brendan Hale and wife Cheryl; one great grandson, Eli Hale; and several nieces and nephews.
Her funeral service will be held at 2:30 p.m., Sunday, December 14, 2014, in the Chapel of West Funeral Home, 17 Merrimon Ave., Weaverville, with Pastor Hugh Ward officiating. Burial will be in Paint Fork Cemetery, Barnardsville.
