LOCKHART - Nellie Rochester Brannon, 86, of 210 S. 6th St. died Sept. 21, 1998, at her home after a lengthy illness. A native of Whitmire, she was the widow of Grady Brannon Sr. and daughter of the late Richard and Sally Crocker Rochester. She was a member of Lockhart Freewill Baptist Church and was a former Sunday school teacher. She also was a Gold Star Mother. Surviving are six daughters, Nancy Hope and Guynita Brannon of Union, Tincy Inman and Carolyn Rash of Lockhart, Mary Cox of Great Falls and Brenda Petty of Leesville, La.; three sons, Grady Brannon Jr. of the home, Arthur Brannon of Elizabeth Town, Ky., and Clifton Brannon of Union; two adopted-daughters, Betty Tice of Lockhart and Shirley Brannon of Union; 34 grandchildren; 53 great-grandchildren and 10 great-great-grandchildren. Mrs. Brannon was predeceased by two daughters, Peggy Walker and Sarah Gregory and two sons, Walter Lee Brannon and Barney "Sonny" Brannon. Services will be held at 3 p.m. Wednesday at Lockhart Freewill Baptist Church, conducted by the Revs. Tommy Bryson Jr., Calvin Smith and Paul Childress. Burial will be in Union Memorial Gardens. The body will be at the home, 210 S. 6th St., after 11 a.m. today. Memorials may be made to Lockhart Freewill Baptist Church Building Fund, P.O. Box 329, Lockhart, 29364. S.R. Holcombe Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
