Helen Louise Hawkins, 83, born March 12, 1931 in Rosebush, MI, passed away at her home on December 1, 2014. Helen was a former nursing supervisor for Hazen Memorial Hospital; graduate of Sacred Heart Academy, Mt. Pleasant, MI (1948) St. Lawrence Mercy School of Nursing (1952); also was past president of the Hazen Bison Boosters, Hazen, ND.

Survivors include her husband of nearly 60 years, Ned, three sons: Dan (Kellie) of Austin, TX, Ned (Sheila) of Kalamazoo and Mark of DeWitt; three grandchildren: Andrew Karl, Leandra (Michael) Burke, and Brandon (Chelsey) Bickford, one great grandson, Matthew; brother Tom (Maureen) McConnell; sister Ann Strauss, and sister-in-law Eleanor McConnell. She was predeceased by her daughter Barbara Carlson, parents Bernard and Mary Helen McConnell, sister Kay Faber, and brother B.J. McConnell.

A funeral service will be held Friday, December 5, 2014 - 12:00 p.m. at the Wacousta Communtiy United Methodist Church, 9180 Herbison Road, Eagle, MI 48822, with Rev. Amee Papparella and Rev. Lyle Heaton officiating. Interment will follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Lansing. The family will receive friends Thursday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the Peters & Murray Funeral Home in Grand Ledge and also one hour prior to service time at the church.
