Died Saturday evening, April 8, 2006. William was born February 6, 1925 in Battle Creek, Michigan, a son of William and Alberta (Wood) Britton Sr. He had been a Kalamazoo area resident most of his life, and was employed with Georgia Pacific for 43 years, retiring in 1988. Upon retirement, he worked at Cooper Township for several years. He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Margaret Britton; 2 brothers, Jack Britton and Gordon Irons; and a grandson, William C. Britton. On October 28, 1945, he was united in marriage to Sheila Elaine (Zudweg) Britton, who survives. Also surviving are 4 children, Robert (Nancy) Britton of Kalamazoo, Sharon (Michael) Howard of Plainwell, Stephen (Lynn) Britton of Mattawan, and Randell Britton and his fiancé, Caroline Dauphinais, both of Kalamazoo; 15 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; a sister, Regina Britton of Kalamazoo; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Services will be held 1 o'clock Wednesday from the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Memorial Chapel, 622 S. Burdick St. Visitation will be 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday. Interment will be in West Cooper Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the American Liver Foundation – Michigan Chapter or the West Michigan Cancer Center.
