Lavina Ruth Mushrim, age 75, passed away November 21, 2014 after a long battle with a severe illness. She was born on January 16, 1939, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

Lavina grew up in Norman, graduating from Norman High School in 1957. She loved eating at Japanese steakhouses, caring for her family, and spending time with her grandchildren.

Lavina worked at the University of Oklahoma where she met her soon-to-be husband, Walt. They were wed on June 28, 1969. With her husband, Lavina opened Video Biz Etc. in Midwest City in 1988 where they continued to serve the area’s residents until the store closed in 1999. Subsequent to the store’s closing, Lavina worked part-time at ILS in Norman until she retired in 2007.

Lavina is preceded in death by her husband, Walter B. Mushrim, and her parents, Carl and Isola Ambrister. She is survived by her daughters, Felicia Chitwood and Vanessa Dutton; her sons-in-law, Ronald Chitwood and Chad Dutton; and her grandsons, Ronnie Chitwood and wife Kaela, Jesse Chitwood, Daniel Dutton, and Jonas Dutton.

Graveside services will be held at Norman I.O.O.F Cemetery, 2:00p.m., Tuesday, November 25, 2014.
