Mary Broxson, born June 15, 1929 on her father's tow boat "The Viking" on the Mississippi River at Chico, Arkansas passed away Friday, December 19, 2008. She and her father, mother, and brother came to the area in 1941. Her mother was instrumental in establishing the mail route and her father helped the original First Methodist Church at Midway.
She was preceded in death by three sisters, Gladys, Josephine and Margie, her father and mother, Gladys and Joseph Ritchie and her husband of 52 years, Adron Broxson. She and her husband operated a sanitation service in Gulf Breeze, Midway area besides owning several shrimp boats.
After the loss of her husband and the loss of her business due to hurricane Ivan, she moved to Milton, Florida where she resided until death.
She is survived by her brother Joseph Ritchie and his friend Gretta Lucas, a beloved niece Julie and her husband William Harp and their two precious children, Kolby Cheyenne and William Blake.
She was loved by many and will be missed by all.
Funeral services will be 1:00 pm Monday, December 22, 2008 at the Lewis Funeral Home Chapel in Navarre, Florida Burial will follow at the Beal Memorial Park Cemetery in Fort Walton Beach with Lewis Funeral Home directing, the family will receive friends from 11:00 am-1:00 pm on Monday, December 22, 2008 at Lewis Funeral Home Chapel in Navarre.
