Services for Charles King, 92, will be 11A.M., Wednesday at First Presbyterian Church. Burial will be in West View Cemetery.
Mr. King was a native of Newton County but made his home in Milledgeville. His career in education started as a school teacher in Dudley Georgia where he met his wife Elaine Wells. He joined the United States Navy during World War II and served on a Navy destroyer. After his discharge in December 1945, he moved to Milledgeville and worked in Macon as a baseball coach and Social Studies teacher at Lanier High School. He later worked in Baldwin County as an Assistant Principal at West End School and later was Principal of Midway School before his retirement in 1976. He was an active deacon and elder at First Presbyterian Church. He was a member of Kiwanis and Baldwin County Retired Teacher's Association and served as a volunteer with Meals-On-Wheels.
Survivors include a son, Philip King (Susan) of Marietta; a daughter, Carolyn King Larson (Danny) of Milledgeville; a brother, Ralph King (Louise) of Decatur; three grandchildren, Erik Larson of Austin, TX, Kristina Larson of UNC-Greensboro and Michael King of Marietta.
