Death of Mentor Andrus
'At eleven o'clock, on September 17th 1912, Mentor Andrus passed from this life.

He had lead a useful life to the age of 67 years, 11 months and 4 days.

Mercant, farmer, politician, he was well-known, and well-liked,--well-liked, for he was genial in disposition, charitable, and good.

Mr. Andrus had been ill for some years, living with his son, Deptuy Tax-Collector A. L. Andrus.

He knew the end was near, and awaited it with stoicism.

"When shall we kill the sick?" Now a question being pondered over by great physicians, was not considered a minute in thie case of Mentor Andrus.

His faithful son, and that son's faithful wife, watched over the fleeting soul, just as they would watch over one with power of recuperation--just as they would over one that the Court of Death had not pronounced final sentence: "Go and meet thy Maker."

Mr. Andrus for many years was a resident of Grand Coteau, where he enjoyed popularity and affluence. That community, as well as this, mourn his loss.

The remains were interred in the Catholic cemetery, in Opelousas on Wednesday. A large concourse of people followed them to their last resting place.'
