The poet Antonio Machado, his brother, died in the exile, along with his mother, shortly after the final of Spanish Civil War. Manuel, joined the fascism, even he wrote a laudatory poem to General Franco, maybe, forced by his tragically circunstances, entitled "Al Sable del Caudillo." But he is remembered by the playwrights co-wrote with his brother, and hsi poems such as "La Lola Se Va a los Puertos," "La Duquesa de Benamejí," "Juan de Mańara," "Las Adelfas," "El Hombre que Murió en la Guerra," "Alma," "Canciones y Dedicatorias," "Cante Hondo," "Phoenix" and "Cadencias de Cadencias."
