Mr. Frank E. Phillips, age 82, of Swords Creek, Virginia, passed away Thursday (November 20, 2014) in a Lebanon, Virginia hospital following a lengthy illness. Born March 17, 1932 in Russell County, Virginia, he was a son of the late Jackson and Nona Colley Phillips. He was a 1952 graduate of Honaker High School and had lived in Chicago for forty years before moving back to southwest Virginia. He was a member of the Swords Creek Block Church and had formerly been employed as a truck mechanic.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Pansy Trula Whited Phillips, his second wife, Shirley Horton Phillips, one brother, Mason Phillips, and one sister, Dorothy Breedlove.
Survivors include one son, Stephen Phillips of Swords Creek; three step-children, Ella Jane Horton of Swords Creek, Melissa Barrett of Honaker, and Thomas Horton of Rosedale; two grandchildren, Johnny Phillips and Cheri Phillips both of Chicago, Illinois; one great-grandson, Cole Phillips; one sister, Lillie Bostic of Loudenville, Ohio; four step-grandchildren, Sarah Stiltner, Benjamin Barrett, Amanda Horton, and Matthew Horton; three step-great-grandchildren, Evan Stiltner, Mason Horton and Connor Horton; several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 PM Saturday in the Honaker Funeral Home Chapel, Honaker, Virginia with Rev. Jess Whited and Rev. Larry Dotson officiating. Interment will follow in Greenhills Memory Gardens at Claypool Hill, Virginia.
Pallbearers will be Mike Brown, Chris Brown, Ray Brown, Jeff Cordle, David Perkins, and Jess Whited.
Friends may call at the Honaker Funeral Home after 6:00 PM Friday.
