Services for Billie Joyce Pounds Cunningham Prentis, 73, Walters, will be 10 a.m. Monday at First Baptist Church with the Rev. Mike Williams officiating. Interment will follow at Ringling Memorial Cemetery.
Born Oct. 23, 1930, in Tillman County to Henry Chester "Chick" and Clara Burnadette Hughes Pounds, she died July 23, 2004, at her residence. She was preceded in death by her parents, the children's father, Claude, and her husband Sonny Prentis on Nov. 26, 2002.
Billie grew up in the Frederick, Manitou area and was married to Claude David Cunningham Dec. 28, 1946, in Manitou and to this union, 12 children were born. Billie and Claude made their home around the Manitou, Frederick and Hollister, Waters and Ardmore area until their divorce in 1973. Then Billie and the children moved to Ringling. In November 1975, Billie was married to Marvin "Sonny" Prentis, and they made their home in Ringling. Billie was in the bar and cafe business for many years, and also drove the school bus for the Ringling Public School system for several years until her stroke in July 2001. Since then, Billie was at home in Ringling until the death of her husband in November 2002. Billie then moved to Walters where she lived until her death.
Survivors include four daughters and two sons-in-law, Joy and David Griffin, Walters, Tammie and Jerry Riley, Ringling, Michelle Taylor and Kim Butler, both Walters; eight sons and four daughters-in-law, Tommy Cunningham, Comanche, Clyde and Claudine Cunningham, Temple, Billy Bob and Tonja Cunningham, Ringling, Ricky and Lois Cunningham, Healdton, Jerry Cunningham, Wynnewood, Timmy "Wofe" and Becky, Ringling, Joe Cunningham, Ringling, Jeff Cunningham, Grandfield; two sisters and one brother-in-law Dean Timm, Chattanooga, Bobbie (Billie's twin sister) and F.A. "Woody" Woodmore, Frederick; 26 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.
Bearers will be sons.
