Maurice Anderson passed away at Madera Community Hospital at the age of 88. He and his wife Cleo had been married for 62 years and had lived in Madera for 57 years.

Maurice was born in Texas and moved to the Lindsay, CA in 1920. He graduated from Porterville High School in 1933. Maurice married Cleo L. Mauser in March of 1941 and established their first home in Fresno. Following the attack on Pearl Harbor, Maurice believed it was his patriotic duty and enlisted in the Army Air Corps where he served faithfully until his honorable discharge in 1945 at the close of the war. Maurice and Cleo moved to Madera in February of 1946, where they made their home and raised their family of four children. Maurice worked as a baker for more than 30 years, retiring in 1979 from Rainbo Bakery.

Maurice was a devoted husband, dad, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and friend. He enjoyed many glorious years as a member of the Madera Camera Club. He was artistic, poetic, possessed a wonderful sense of humor and was never so happy as when he was discovering the world through the lens of his camera. His photographic vision was unique and reflected the singular individual that he was. He translated his love of God and God's creation through his photography.

Maurice is survived by his loving wife Cleo; daughters Cecelia Bock of Madera and Susan Anderson and her husband Richard Ravel of San Jose, Ca.; sons David and his wife Maureen of Visalia and Douglas and his wife Ana Maria Angel-Anderson of Longmont, CO; brother James Anderson and his wife Honor of Oklahoma City, OK; sisters Elizabeth Welts of Sacramento, CA and Marie Blockland of Hacienda heights, CA. Maurice's grandchildren include Lisa and Brad Greene, Erik and Janette Bock, Todd and Mindy Bock, David and Lindsay Ravel, and Anna and Natasha Anderson. His six great-grandchildren include Brandon Hutchison, Brady Greene, Kelsey and Caleb Bock, Skyler and Brooke Bock. His nieces and nephews include Buck Anderson, Tom Welts, Sally Jones, Cricket Oldham, Karen Blockland and their families.
