Raymond Baros Sr., 76, was called home by his Heavenly Father on Nov. 11, 2014 at Community Hospital in Torrington.

Raymond born Jan. 10, 1938 in Wheatland, the son of Albert and Cora (Carabajal) Baros. He was raised in the Guernsey and Hartville area. Raymond met the love of his life, Rebecca Santillanes, and they married on Aug. 31, 1963 in Torrington, and, from this union, were born six children, whom they loved dearly.

He was employed at the CF&I Sunrise Mine for 28 years till the mine closed. After that, he worked for the city of Torrington water department until he was injured, which led to an early retirement.

Raymond enjoyed his life to the fullest. He loved to sing and dance. He enjoyed fishing with his family and friends. He even tied his own fishing flies. He enjoyed elk hunting in Jackson with his sons.

He built his own home with the help of his brothers-in-law in 1980. He enjoyed making his rounds visiting and joking at the banks, post office, Kaufman Glass and his coffee buddies, to mention a few. Raymond was a friend to all and a stranger to no one. He will be missed greatly by all who knew him.

Raymond was a strong member of the Saint Rose Catholic Church where he served as a Eucharistic minister and served on the parish council. He was also a member of the American Legion.

Raymond is survived by his six children, Renee Baros, Rodney (Teresa) Baros, Raelynn Baros, Rorick Baros, Rodessa Baros and Raymond Baros, Jr., all of Torrington; a sister, Dora Ramos of Torrington; 11 grandchildren; and two great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Rebecca; his parents; four sisters; and a great granddaughter.
