MRS. WAMBSGAN IS DEAD AT 85

Exactly a week after her eighty-fifth birthday, Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Wambsgan, a resident of Syracuse for 50 years, died yesterday afternoon at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Edward D. Chapman, 40 Syracuse st., Baldwinsville. She had been ill a week. Mrs. Wambsgan was the widow of Martin Wambsgan, one of three Onondaga County Civil War veterans to belong to the Legion of Honor. A native of Jordan, she was the daughter of the late George Watkins and Sally Peak, pioneer Central New York residents. In Syracuse she was a member of the Irwin Methodist Episcopal Church. Surviving, besides her daughter, are two sisters, Mrs. John Brown and Mrs. J. Wilson Whiting of Jordan; two granddaughters, Alma Becker Ellis and Marion Mosher of Syracuse; a grandson, Elmer Wambgsan. Services will be conducted at the Chapman home Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock. Rev. W. C. Chamberlain of the Baldwinsville Methodist Episcopal Church will officiate. Burial will be in Woodlawn cemetery.
