COLUMBUS, GA— Benton Newton Adams, 78, of Columbus died Saturday, October 6, 2007 at St. Francis Hospital. Funeral services will be 3:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 10, 2007 at Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, Macon Road Chapel with Dr. Brad Hicks officiating; Interment to follow in Parkhill Cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday, October 9, 2007 from 6 until 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Mr. Adams was born in October of 1929 to the late Lucy C. Nix Adams and Charlie Martin Adams in Calhoun County, GA. He was a member of Wynnbrook Baptist Church and retired from a long working history with Southern Bell/AT&T and TSYS. Mr. Adams enjoyed farming, fishing, and hunting.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 57 years, Mary Frances Thompson Adams of Columbus; four children, Debra Honaker of Columbus, Cheryl Stratigos of Macon, GA, Nigel Adams and his wife, Donna, of Woodland, GA and Jeff Adams of Columbus; nine grandchildren, Julie Honaker, Kristin Honaker, Joshua Adams, Nick Stratigos, Lauren Adams, Becca Adams, Zach Adams, Hannah Adams, and Grace Adams; numerous nieces and nephews.
