NEWTON - Raymond L. Gibson, 85, died Friday, Sept 7, 2001, at Abernethy Laurels in Newton.

Born May 16, 1922, in Marion, he was a son of the late Lonzo Gibson and Mary Hoyle Gibson. He was a band saw operator for a furniture company.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Cora Barnes Gibson; a sister, Virtus Metcalf; and a brother, Wesley Gibson.

Survivors include daughters and sons-in-laws, Louis Dugger and husband, Roger, of Mountain City, Tenn., and Margie Huffstetler and husband, Dale, of Conover; a son and daughter-in-law, Gene Gibson and wife, Kathy, of Conover; seven grandchildren; 13 great--grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Sept 11, 2007, in the chapel of Drum Funeral Home in Conover. The Rev. Larry Cooley will officiate.

The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Monday, Sep 10, 2007, at the funeral home.

The Gibson Family has entrusted funeral arrangements to Drum Funeral Home and Cremation Services in Conover.
