I wrote this shortly after my Daddy passed away. I asked my cousin Little John to read it at the Internment and I gave copies to my sister and my brothers, aunts, uncles and friends. For the man that so generously gave to me and others I had to prepare this memorial. It was the least I could do. - Andrea L. Bennett Huggins

The daughters and sons of Clifford E. Bennett would like to thank you for joining today in the celebration of our dad's life.
First, our thanks go to our mom's, Linda and Annette for their never-ending love and support. Dad was a lucky man to have shared his life with two immeasurable women, thereby creating one unique family. Our thanks are then offered to dad's brothers and sisters, who have supported him and us with their love, caring and prayers: Uncles John & Danny and Aunts Thelma, Debbie, Mary, Lois & Rhonda, and our huge extended family.
Clifford was a son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, uncle & friend, and in all these roles he excelled.
Daddy was born July 2, 1943, to Clifford D. Bennett & Twila I. Bennett. Just as sure as he was reunited with his parents and his brother Mike and Son In-Law Michael, upon his arrival to Heaven, we are sure dad is gently rocking his infant son Buddy in his arms once again.
Dad always had a zest for life, like when he was a young man serving in France with the US Army, or as a volunteer Hooverson Heights Firefighter. In his early days, dad enjoyed swimming and riding motorcycles. It was during his younger days that he and his brother John worked with other church members to lay the cornerstone for the Hooverson Heights Church of The Nazarene. Thus a hard working young man started his own family. He married Linda J. Louese on June 13,1966 and together they had three children Andrea, Bridget and Buddy. It was around the time that Cliff and Linda buried their son that his career with Weirton Steel Corporation really took off. Our dad spent alot of time with his Father In-Law, Joseph Louese. Dad and Grandpap were best friends from hunting and fishing to a construction business they even ventured into for a short time. Even just going for rides, and out visiting other buddies they spent a great deal of time just being together. Dad belonged to many clubs and organizations during this time in his life, such as; The Colliers Sportsman Club, The NRA, and a C.B. club just to mention a few. The C.B. club, being where he got the handle that would follow him through life, many friends and co-workers never using Cliff or Bud. To them, now, simply he was known as "Fat Cat".
After raising his girls, seeing both graduate high school and start jobs of their own, and even walking his "Annie Babe" down the aisle, and being blessed with his first grandchild Jenna, dad started the next journey in his life. He married Annette Orison in December, 1994 and brought Jerry into our family. He and Annette, had a son together, dads pride and joy, Cliff Jr. Soon after, our family was completed when dad was again blessed with another grandbaby, Kayla. When boasting of his accomplishments in life dad was truly proudest most of his children: Andrea, Bridget, Jerry & Cliff. How lucky we were to have a man like him in our lives to love and to be loved by.
The overall impression of dad is that he was, in the true sense of the word a very warmhearted man.
You see, our dad, was our HERO, with him you could go anywhere, be anything, and with him, you had it all. Our dad was a very generous man; he gave to others without prejudice, the type to genuinely offer you "the shirt off his back". Daddy was an avid hunter, fisherman, gardener, and overall outdoorsman. He truly connected with the outdoors; he enjoyed sharing his time wiith family and friends and was a most gifted story teller.
Our tears that fall are tears of sorrow and loss mingled with joy because of our memories of dad. When asking one of us kids about daddy you will get a memory of anything from... Him singing us to sleep, to, splitting firewood and him nearly losing a thumb doing it, or, planting a garden with dad. Afternoon lunches where we would meet at our favorite restaurant. Watching our dad cheat at playing cards just to make you mad, so he could laugh. Memories like daddy crying at "Little House on the Prairie" re-runs, and singing "Bad to the Bone" at the top of our lungs together, up and at it early in the morning going hunting, or just riding out back roads looking for wildlife, late night chats and snacks in front of the TV. after he came home from working afternoon, or, trips to the mall just for new skateboard axles and coming home with a brand new skateboard, axles and all. And because you never knew what story you might hear, naptime with daddy was always looked forward upon. Even the not-so good times are memories that we will always cherish because they are times spent with our dad.
Dad always gave each of his children the attention they deserved and more, even if you were apart you knew he was never more than a phone call away. As always knowing he is there for us now, watching and protecting, guiding and loving us is a comfort, for, Our Father Truly Art in Heaven.
