Harry M. Burd, former burgess of old Brownsville borough, has died at the age of 68.
Mr. Burd, a native of Brownsville, was a machinist with the Monongahela Railway until he retired nine years ago due to ill health.
He served three terms as burgess of Brownsville prior to the 1934 consolidation of South Brownsville and Brownsville boroughs.
He was also fire chief of the North Side fire department and a member of the I.O.O.F., Brownsville.
Since the death of his wife, Mrs. Anna Burd, in March of 1934, he had resided in the Monongahela Hotel.
He is survived by two sisters, Mrs. Maude Corey of Uniontown, and Mrs. Margaret Brashear, Pittsburgh.
