Russian Tsar. He reigned as Tsar of Russia from 1727 to 1730. The grandson of Tsar Peter I the Great, his parents were Tsarevitj Alexei Petrovitj and his wife Sophia Charlotte of Braunschweig-Wolfenbüttel. At the age of 12 he became Tsar, following the death of Tsarina Catherine I. In 1728 he was crowned. With the death of Peter II the male bloodline of the House of Romanov ceased to exist.
