Deceased Name: Charles Bolen
CHAPPELLS - Charles Dewitt Bolen, 82, resident of 478 Lakeshore Drive, husband of Katherine Page Bolen, died February 6, 2006, in Self Regional Medical Center in Greenwood.

A graduate of Williston High School and the University of South Carolina, he received his masters degree in education in 1955 from USC. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. Mr. Bolen formerly taught in the Ware Shoals School District # 51 where he also served as principal of the primary, junior high and Ware Shoals High School. He retired in 1979 as Superintendent of District # 51.

He was a member, Deacon and former Sunday School Superintendent and teacher of the Chappells Baptist Church.

Mr. Bolen was awarded the Order of the Silver Crest which was presented by then Governor James Hodges.

Surviving in addition to his wife of the home are a son, Charles Steven Bolen and wife Joyce of Mt. Pleasant; two grandsons, Charles W. "Will" Bolen of Taylors and Jimmy Brown of Gastonia, NC; a great-granddaughter Georgia Brown Caudle of Charleston; two stepgreat- grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted at 3 p.m. Thursday from the Blyth Funeral Home Chapel in Greenwood. Burial will be in Oakbrook Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Chappells Baptist Church, 1454 Hwy. 39, Chappells, SC 29037 or to Hospice of Laurens County 16 Peachtree Street-B, Clinton, SC 29325.
