Larson, Dr. M. Parl Larson

Arizona Native, Parl Larson 91, passed away October 22, 2014.

Parl attended the University of Illinois Dental School in Chicago, at which time he met nursing student, Shirley. After their wedding, they returned to Phoenix where Parl practiced dentistry for 40 years. His love and devotion was evident in the family he cherished. In 1986 he and Shirley retired to Pinetop~Lakeside, where they have enjoyed life on the mountain. Parl was an avid outdoorsman. His life was filled with service and leadership. Parl was an honorary lifetime member of the Arizona PTA.

He was an accomplished amateur trainer and breeder of German Short-haired Pointers. He received recognition from the National German Short-haired Pointer association for his unselfish contributions to nurture and perpetuate The goals of the NGSPA. They commended him saying, "You have been not only a winner in the field of competition but also a man of unswerving integrity and devotion to the principals of fair sportsmanship." He was an honorary lifetime member of the German Short-haired Pointer Club of America.

Parl was inducted into the National German Short-haired Pointer Field Trial Hall of Fame, the Amateur Field Trial Club's Region 12 Hall of Fame, and the GSPCA Hall of Fame. With his wife by his side, they formed treasured friendships with many people, who supported them as they worked closely together during the many years while serving these organizations.

Parl is survived by his wife of 67 years, Shirley, and children: Jeff (Jennifer), Debbie Romney (Rob), Mindy Call (Mike), Greg "Tigger" (Ruthie), Terri Howe (Denis) and Suzi Hall (Kory). Parl and Shirley have 37 Grandchildren and 78 Great-grandchildren.

The visitation will be 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. Friday, October 31, 2014 at Owens Livingston Mortuary - White Mountain Chapel, 320 N. 9th Street in Show Low, Arizona.

The funeral service will begin 1:00 P.M. Saturday, November 1, 2014 at the Woodland Lake Ward Chapel of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 4075 Buck Springs Road, Pinetop, Arizona, where additional visitation will begin 1 hour prior.

The concluding service and interment will immediately follow at the Lakeside City Cemetery in Lakeside, Arizona.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations to the
Perpetual Education Fund
