A native of Duncan, Mississippi, he was a talented piano player, who was discovered by Sonny Boy Williamson while playing in Greenville, Mississippi. The two men became good friends and performed regularly on the popular main drag of Nelson Street in Greenville, Mississippi. Williamson also helped Love to get signed to the Trumpet Record Label. Love who was highly influenced by the likes of Leroy Carr played on several of Williamson's trumpet sessions. From 1951, until his early death in 1953, Love recorded several songs including, 'Vanity Dresser Boogie,' 'Nelson Street Blues,' and 'Everybody's Fishing.' In April 1953, he played his last gig backed by a White bassist and drummer. A longtime abuser of alcohol he passed away in Jackson, Mississippi, in August 1953, at the age of 47. (bio by: K)
