HOFFMEISTER, HOLLIS LILLARD "H.L." JR., - age 89, of South Knoxville, passed away October 12, 2014. He was a member of South Knoxville Lodge #769 F&AM, a former member of Immanuel Baptist Church, and a current member of the Pursuit in Seymour. H.L. was a graduate of Young High School and Knoxville Business College, a U.S. Navy veteran and served during World War II in the Pacific Theatre aboard the USS Mugford. After the war he was a salesman for Kenny Pipe, and a plumber for over 60 years.

Preceded in death by parents, H.L. and Thelma Fowler Hoffmeister, Sr.; wife of 63 years, Barbara Sue Hoffmeister; and grandson-in-law, Jim Tucker.

Survived by son and daughter-in-law, Larry and Ronda Hoffmeister; grandchildren, Shannon Tucker, Shane and wife Carrie Hoffmeister, and Dane Hoffmeister; great grandchildren, Ryan and Ben Tucker, Maggie Kaye and Grace Anne Hoffmeister; brother and sister-in-law, Earl and JoAnn Hoffmeister, sister-in-law, Beverly Carroll; several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

The family will receive friends Thursday, October 16, 2014, from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. in the chapel of Berry Funeral Home, Chapman Highway. Masonic rites will be performed by Burlington Lodge with the funeral service to immediately follow; Rev. Joe Chandler and Rev. Jeff Timbs officiating. Family and friends will meet on Friday, October 17, 2014, at 10:45 a.m. for an 11:00 a.m. graveside service at Woodlawn Cemetery. Military honors will be performed at the graveside. Pallbearers will be Dave, Jason, Dane, and Shane Hoffmeister, Ryan and Ben Tucker, and Mark Renfro.
