SUMMITVILLE, IN-Teddy "Rex" Patton II, 77, passed away at VNA Hospice Home in Fort Wayne on Tuesday, October 14, 2014 following an extended illness.

He was born on October 3, 1937 in Wyandotte, Michigan to Teddy Rex and Rachel (Caldwell) Patton and has lived most of his life in Summitville. He was a graduate of Wyandotte High School-Class of 1955. He also attended Russian language school at Indiana University and Anderson College. Rex served as a Russian translator in the United States Air Force during the Viet Nam War and was honorably discharged as an Airman 1st Class in 1968. Rex was skilled in several areas and had worked for ConRail, as a custodian for area churches and nursing homes and Johns-Manville, formerly of Alexandria. He was a member of the Alexandria Church of God. Both the composing and reading of poetry was a large part of Rex's life and he was involved in area poetry clubs. He also volunteered to read poetry at numerous events honoring veterans. He loved music and had sung in gospel music quartets. Rex was involved in the former Alexandria Artisans Gallery and was very creative with photography. He was also an excellent cook. Love of the Lord and his family were the two priorities in Rex's life.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a son-Lance Patton and a sister-Mary Pless.

Services honoring Rex's life and Home Going will take place at 11 am on Monday, October 20, 2014 in the Alexandria Church of God, 202 North West Street with Pastor Tom Schuurman officiating. Interment will follow in Vinson Memorial Cemetery in Summitville with military honors by the United States Air Force and the Elwood VFW Honor Guard.
