Cathy Campbell-Layton, age 65, of Baytown, passed away on Friday, October 10, 2014. She was born on September 25, 1949, in Belton, Texas, to Clarence Murrah and Dorothy Rae Bell Campbell. Cathy spent many years as a legal secretary and worked with numerous notable attorneys in the Houston area. Her family will remember her as a loving mother and grandmother, and a faithful Christian.

Cathy is survived by her daughters, Wendi McDonald and husband, Shawn, of Florence, Italy, Monica Clayton and husband, Michael, of Huffman, and Ronda Layton and fiancé, Adrian Salazar of Baytown; son, Russell Layton and wife, Krystal, of Mont Belvieu; step-daughter, Jessica Layton Gasparo and family; grandchildren, Collin Clayton, Alexia "Alli" Reed, Matthew Clayton, Devin Reed, Cayla McDonald, Michael W. Clayton, Logan Layton, Savina Layton, Alissa McDonald, and Landon Layton; her best friend, Connie Donnelly Everitt; and numerous other relatives.

She was preceded in death by her husband James P. Layton; parents, Clarence Murrah and Dorothy Rae Bell Campbell; and brothers, Murrah Joe Campbell, Michael Wayne Campbell, and John Paul Campbell.

A funeral mass will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, October 14, 2014, at the St. John The Evangelist Catholic Church, with the Reverend Terence P. Brinkman, S.T.D., as celebrant. Interment will follow at Forest Park Lawndale Cemetery in Houston.
