This is the east side of the central spire in the J. Price family lot. It is the only place his name is inscribed anywhere in the family lot. His name is inscribed as "J O Price," which is a description of his being the husband of Mary Idell "Della" Price.

The Price family

The Ferndale Cemetery Association has confirmed that Price family members interred in the J. Price family lot but without specific grave markers are: George A. Price, Jefferson O. Price, Clyde A. Price, Clara Aldosa Simons, and Lola Price Simons. Note: Jefferson had another given name in front of 'Jefferson,' which family member and excellent genealogical researcher Larry Wergey has confirmed was 'Thomas,' and "J. O. Price" is inscribed on the central spire as having been the husband of Della Price. Thus, J. O. Price is Thomas Jefferson Otto Price.

George Alexander Price owned a large ranch at Grizzly Bluff, and his father Isaac Charles Price was one of the very first settlers of that area.

There are two foot-step entrances to this lot: One is set into the north side boundary wall and another identical one is on the west side, each with their concrete steps stamped "Price." A deep red-flowered, very thick azalea bush surrounds the central spire and deer love to visit the Price family lot. There is a thick tree along the east edge of the lot between where this photograph shows "No markers here" and "Small stone: "Baby." Due to the fact that the rest of the Price family lot is full along all other boundaries, it is most probable that there are family members interred here: namely Thomas Jefferson Otto Price and Della Price beside their baby and George Alexander Price.

This photograph was taken while facing approximately north, with some mountainous hilltops visible in the distance between the cattle ranches of the fertile Ferndale Valley and the historic Ferndale Cemetery on Bluff Street.

L to R - Mary Idell, Clyde, Jefferson, and Frank C. Price. Frank C. was my grandfather and judging his age in this photo - I'd say that it was taken in 1890. He told us that his mother was not well when the picture was taken. If the year is correct, then the following year she gave birth to daughter Hazel Helene, then died 16 days later ... Clyde, the youngest son, died in 1904 at age 16 ... Frank would eventually marry my grandma Stella and they would name their 1st son Clyde, after his little brother ...
