Son of James Atherton Chamberlain and
Elcy/Elsie Ann Williams.

As a young boy he went to Rock Co, Wisconsin with his parents.

Married Mary Ann Smith in 1873 in Wisconsin.

Children: Marion Ray Chamberlain[married Lillian Belle Bausman], Myrtle Chamberlain[married Alvin Ruark and James Davis Hickman, John R. Chamberlain[married Bertha Grace Stull] and Frank Chamberlain[married Ada Lane & Ida May Wiant].

He was my great-grandfather.

Obit:
Francis F. Chamberlain who died at his home in Fremont township, Clarke county, Iowa, March 6, 1900, was born July 2, 1841 at Woodhull, Steuben county, New York. At the age of five years his parents moved to Wisconsin, where he grew to manhood, and in 1873 was united in marriage with Miss Mary A. Smith, of Bradford, Rock county, Wisconsin, then came to Iowa, where he has since lived - except one year in Kansas. To this union were born five children, the first dying in infancy. The wife and four children survive him -Marion R., John R., Frank and Mrs. Myrtle Ruark of Osceola- all of whom were present at the funeral services, conducted by Rev. Robinson at the home. Scripture lesson, 9th Psalm; opening hymn, "Nearer, My God To Thee"; text, Revelations xxi., 5 and 6. On occasions like this we find great comfort in the word of God. We learned that he had been sick a long time but had borne his affliction very patiently. He was conscious to the last. After the sermon the remains were conveyed to the Union church cemetery [Union Chapel] and lovingly committed to its long resting place. May the Lord bless the bereaved ones, and may it be their happy lot at last to meet and greet their loved ones on that happy shore, where parting will be no more.
