Cpl. Nyle Yates III of Lake Odessa, Mich., graduated Lakewood High in 2002, and attended the Harvest Community Church in Lake Odessa. He was born a son of Nyle Yates Jr. and Jamie Edgecomb. He was a kind, softhearted, and loving person. He enjoyed spending time with his best buddies in Lake Odessa: Jordan, Opie, Rainer and Gibby and he had a special place in his heart for all the children that came his way. Nyle also had a special bond with all of his Army Brothers. His awards and decorations include Weapons Qualification, M4, expert; Army Commendation Medal; Army Good Conduct Medal; National Defense Service Medal; Army Service Ribbon; Overseas Service Ribbon; Iraqi Campaign Medal; Air Assault Badge; Combat Infantry Badge; and Global War on Terrorism Service Medal. Nyle was preceded in death by his father, Nyle Yates Jr. and his grandfather, David L. Tupper. He is survived by his parents, two sisters, three brothers, grandmother and grandparents among others. He was 22.
