Margaret was born 1813 in Newberry, South Carolina. Margaret would have been about 3 years old when her Grandmother Catharine (nee FELLERS) COUNTS died in 1817 and was named in the WILL of her Grandmother (Will dated April 1, 1817 LWT proven in Newberry, South Carolina):
"I will and bequeath unto my beloved Grand Dauter Margaret Hayes one fether bed and one Chekerd Sheet and Chaff bed and no more-- to hur and hur for Ever".
