Obituary for Inis Gunter

Inis Veldia Smith was born in Speedwell, Tennessee on August 29, 1931. She was one of eleven children born from the union of the late Robert Smith and Sarah (Brumitte) Smith.

Inis married the love of her life Glen B. Gunter in Tennessee, on August 10, 1946. The couple would share in the joy of three children together. Inis was a very loving mother and her life was dedicated to her family. She was outgoing, and enjoyed socializing with others. She loved to spend all her time with family and friends.

Inis was a talented upholsterer. She worked hard for more than thirty years operating her own upholstery shop. She was a devout Christian woman, receiving her spiritual nourishment from attendance at the North Monroe Street Church of God, Mountain Assembly.

Inis had a fascination with God’s creation. She appreciated nature and loved being outside, some of her favorite time was spent next to Glen sitting and watching the wildlife, enjoying camping, fishing, and boating. Spring was her favorite season; and she always looked forward to the new growth, and the new life that came with it. Inis also enjoyed planting in her garden and canning her harvest.
