Louis T. "Louie" Shear, 90, died March 28, 2006, at the Iuka Hospital. Louie was born in Wisconsin Rapids, Wis., on Sept. 15, 1915. He was a World War II veteran who received two Purple Hearts during his service as a Marine corporal. He was a retired plumber and pipefitter who moved to Dennis with his wife, Sarah, after his retirement in 1983. Louie loved the outdoors and he told the best stories about "the Good Old Days." He was loved and admired for his strength and courage by all who knew him. He will be greatly missed by all. Our loss is Heaven's gain.

Services were March 29 at Deaton Funeral Home Chapel in Belmont with burial in Joel Cemetery.

Louie is survived by the love of his life, his wife of 40 years, Sarah Shear of Dennis; two stepdaughters, JoAnn Pilkington of Dennis, and Betty Deaton and husband, Jimmy Deaton, of Golden; two sisters, Rose Stoffel and Josephine Godonis, both of Illinois; four grandchildren, Sandra Allred and husband, Barry Allred, of Dennis, Regina Russell and husband, Frank Russell, of Tupelo, Tony Deaton and wife, Jacqulin Deaton, and Bruce Deaton and wife, Melody Deaton, all of Golden; eight great-grandchildren, Kaila Kavis of Dennis, Nick Stubblefield of Burkburnett, Texas, Lacey Russell and Sam Russell, both of Tupelo, Tonna Deaton, Taylor Deaton, Austin Deaton and Carly Deaton, all of Golden; two special nephews, Jack and Tom Shear of Wisconsin; several others nieces and nephews; also, a special dog and friend, Yoda.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Jack and Stella Shear, and many brothers and sisters.
