Major League Baseball Player. The scrappy infielder played for the Chicago Cubs (1946 to 1949), Pittsburgh Pirates (1950 to 1951) and New York Giants (1951). The most he ever played was in 1948, when he got into 96 games, had 337 at-bats and hit .261 with 17 doubles. The Cubs traded him to Brooklyn on May 16, 1949 for infielder Bob Ramazzotti, but he never played for the Dodgers. Schenz was sold to the Pirates on November 4, 1949, and they sold him to New York on July 10, 1951. He played in only eight games for the Giants. The right-handed batter hit .247 lifetime with two homers and 24 runs batted in.  (bio by: Ron Coons)
