James "Jim" Hale Sr., age 93, of South Knoxville, passed away peacefully at his home on Sunday morning, September 28, 2014.

He was retired from the Knox County Road Department as a Road Supervisor and worked over 60 years as a heavy equipment operator. Jim served in the Army and was a World War II veteran. He was in the 13th Armored, Black Cat Tank Division serving in Germany.

Jim was the rock, hero, and foundation for his family. He was loved by so many and will be sadly but lovingly missed by all.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Lola "Mamma Bell" Hale and daughter Barbara Berry.

He is survived by:
Daughter and son-in-law: Jama Hale O'Connell and husband Jim
Son and daughter-in-law: Jim Hale Jr and wife Pam
Son-in-law: Claude Berry, Husband of predeceased daughter Barbara
Grandsons: Scott Berry and wife Keri, Todd Berry and wife Trudie, Robbie Reed and wife Debby, Chad Reed and wife Indah, Dustin Hale, Chris Galbreath and wife Keri.
10 Great Grandchildren: Emma and Nate Berry, Griffin and Reed Berry, Christian and Ryan Reed, Cameron and Slayden Reed, Logan and Maddox Galbreath

Sisters: Wanda Williams and husband Ray, Velma Green and husband Butch

Funeral service will be 7 PM Tuesday September 30 at Atchley's Seymour Chapel with Rev. Charlie McNutt and Rev. Ray Williams officiating. Graveside services and interment will be 11 AM on Wednesday at Shiloh Cemetery in Pigeon Forge. The family will receive friends from 5-7 PM Tuesday September 30 at Atchley Funeral Home. 122 Peacock Court, Seymour, TN 37865. PH 577-2807.
