EARL DEAN DIAL, 75, of Duncan, passed away Thursday, March 16, 2006, in Duncan.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in Glory Bound Church in Marlow with the Rev. Gene Ray Ward and the Rev. Charles Bates officiating. Burial will be in Marlow Cemetery under direction of Callaway-Smith-Cobb Funeral Home in Marlow.
Dean was born Jan. 23, 1931, in Marlow, to Earl C. and Zelma Lena Medcalf Dial. He married Lena Faye Ward on Jan. 14, 1950, in Rush Springs.
Dean lived in the Marlow/Duncan area all of his life and in Duncan for the past eight years. He graduated from Marlow High School and served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. Dean coached area kids pole-vaulting and helped coach vaulting at Oklahoma State University. He enjoyed fishing and hunting.
Survivors include his wife, Lena Faye Dial of the home; three sons, Rex Alan Dial and wife Peggy of Aurora, Mo., James Dean Dial and wife Nona of Marlow, and Danial Joe Dial and wife Shawn of Tulsa; a daughter, Sue Elaine Gates and husband Freddie of Perkins; 14 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; a sister, Dolores Renfrow and husband Bill of Duncan; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Jerry Dale Dial; and a sister, Wanda Jean Crouch.
Bearers will be Bruce Dial, Gary Gates, Kenny Phillips, Jay Dial, Joshua Dial and Timmy Dial.
