Trained at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art in London, he began his career working in repertory theatre. He made his big screen debut in "A Night to Remember" (19580, followed by "A Circle of Deception" (1960). His other film credits included "Cleopatra" (1963), "Hell Boats" (1970), "Beware My Brethren" (1972), "The Supergrass" (1985) and "Eat the Rich" (1987). He had his best success in British Television with shows such as "The Adventures of Robin Hood", Armchair Theatre", "The Avengers", "Doctor Who", "The Liver Birds", "Crossroads" and many more.
