Samuel J. Cureton, Sr., age 88, of Newport, passed away Tuesday, September 23, 2014 at his home. He was a veteran of the United States Army having served during WWII.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Willie Mae Cureton; son Harry Cureton and sister Ida Bell Ramsey; father, Edom Cureton; and mother, Susie G. Cureton.
He is survived by his four sons, Samuel Cureton, Jr. and wife Paulette; Roy Cureton and wife Lillian; Allen Cureton and wife Rose and Jimmy Cureton and wife Cindy; several grandchildren and great grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 12:00 noon until 2:00 pm Saturday, September 27, 2014 with funeral services following at 2:00 pm in Manes Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Wayne Wyatt and Rev. Glen Ball officiating. Burial will follow in Union Cemetery.
