Born to Charles Edward Quin (1874-1962) & Myra Bearden Quin (1884-1949), who married in 1906. Juel was a grandson of Dr. Lucius Monroe Quin of Holmesville.

He was the second husband of Lucy Fatima Brumfield Thornhill (1902-1988). They married on Sept. 7, 1938, in Pike County, MS.

Two daughters:

Jewel Faye Quin Alford (1939-living in 2024)

Betty Anne Quin Whittington Jones (1945-2010)
