Artist. He was born in Lima, Perú. He is considered one of the great Spanish-American artist of his time. His work was exhibited all around the world. In 1945, he was awarded with the National Award of Poetry in Perú. He moved to Italy in the 1950s and there is best known for his performances. His works was influenced by precolombine culture and he is remembered for the "knots" in his paintings. One of his most famous paintings is "La Última Cena." His last performance entitled "Vivere e un'Opera d'Arte," was in april in Milan. As writer, he is remembered for his books "Canción y Muerte de Rolando," "Reinos," "Habitación en Roma," "Mutatis Mutandis," "El Cuerpo de Giulia-no" and "Primera Muerte de María." After the death of his longtime companion Michel, his health declined until his death. He died in Milano, Italy. (bio by: José L Bernabé Tronchoni)
