Col. Henry Maynard Bellamy, MD Jan. 2, 1933-Sept. 18, 2014 Col.

Henry Maynard Bellamy, Jr., MD, 81, of Clemmons, passed away September 18, 2014, at his home. Henry was born on January 2, 1933 a son, to the late Henry Maynard Bellamy, Sr. and the late Ula Hurst Cluverius Bellamy. He was a man of faith.
Henry attended Davidson College and Medical College of Virginia, after joining the US Air Force. He retired from the Air Force after 20 years of service, during his time in the service he was Hospital Commander at Wurtsmith Air Force Base, Chief of Aerospace Medicine at Okinawa and Stewart Air Force Base, and Chief, Clinical Medicine / Surgeons office at Strategic Air Command Headquarters. Following his military career he continued his medical profession as a Gastroenterologist for ten years. Henry then decided to serve the Veterans and ended his career as Chief of Staff at W.G. (Bill) Hefner VA Medical Center, Salisbury, NC; where Col. Bellamy was instrumental in the affiliation with W.G. (Bill) Hefner VA Medical Center, Salisbury, NC and Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center, developing a working relationship. Henry also enjoyed hunting, fishing, wood working, painting, gardening, reading, arts and symphony. He loved his family and was a dedicated husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, and friend. Henry was a quiet man with strong convictions. He is survived by his wife of 26 years, Nancy Wagstaff Bellamy of the home; preceded in death by his daughter, Joan Ellington Bellamy, survived by grandson, Christopher Bellamy of Angier, NC, and great granddaughter Olivia; son, Dr. Henry Maynard Bellamy, III and wife, Deena of Christianburg, VA, grandson, Wesley Bellamy and Leahayne of Radford, VA, and great granddaughter, Kylie, granddaughter, Jessica Cobb and husband, Iain of Arlington, VA, grandson, William Bellamy, of Christian-burg, VA; daughter, Mary Kathryn Skinner of Ocean Springs, MS, grandsons, Aaron Skinner and Preston Skinner of Ocean Springs, MS; son, Ian Hurst Bellamy and Lisa of Glassport, PA, grandchildren, Arianah, Brianah and Elliot. Henry was preceded in death by his first wife and the mother of Joan, Henry and Mary, Vivian Macon Pleasant; survived by the mother of his son Ian, Joan Koon Bellamy of Glassport, PA. A funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m., Monday, September 22nd at Bethlehem United Methodist Church with Pastor, Barry Lemons officiating. Burial will follow with full military honors at Salisbury National Cemetery in Salisbury, NC at 2:00 p.m.
