Writer, Journalist, Playwright. He was born in Guadalajara (Spain) and died in Geneva (Switzerland). He began his career as surrealist poet in the magazine La Gaceta Literaria. In 1931, he founded along with Manuel Díaz Caneja, the magazine En España, Ya Está Todo Preparado Para que se Enamoren los Sacerdotes. During Spanish Civil War, he was loyal to Republican Government and published some poems and playwrigths, later published under the name Romancero General de la Guerra Civil and Teatro para Combatientes. Forced to exile, he moved to France, where was interned in a camp concentration, and later to Mexico, where he knew another spanish writers in the exile. In 1947, he moved to Ginebra (as the writer Salvador de Madariaga), where working for the OIT, and where finally died. Among his works Puentes de Sangre, Niebla de Cuernos, Arbre Sans Terre and La Serrana. His real name was José Emilio Herrera Aguilera. Petere was the lovely nickname that his mother call him.
