TUSCALOOSA | Jean G. Yoder, of Tuscaloosa, died September 12, 2014, at home. Private graveside services will be held at Tuscaloosa Memorial Park with Tuscaloosa Memorial Chapel Funeral Home directing. Visitation will be Monday, September 15, 2014, from 2 to 3 p.m. at the funeral home.
Jean was preceded in death by her parents, Archie L. and Annie Lou Gilliland; and her brother, Leon Gilliland.
She is survived by her husband, Harvey Yoder of Tuscaloosa, AL; her daughters, Mitzi Miles (George) of Northport, AL and Katrina Dewar (Jim) of Birmingham, AL; her stepson, Harold Yoder (Colleen) of Hoover, AL; sister, Ruth Williams of Pensacola, FL; her brothers, Lenwood Gilliland (Peggy) of Gordo, AL and Harlin Gilliland of Northport, AL; grandchildren, Melissa Barkley of Birmingham, AL, Meaghan Barkely of Cottondale, AL, Jasper Dewar of Birmingham, AL, and Herron Yoder of Hoover, AL; and her very special pet Dachshund and constant companion, Heidi Louise.
Jean was born in Tuscaloosa County, December 22, 1944. She received a degree in Nursing from UWA in 1984 and was a dedicated RN as long as her health allowed.
