Company K " Raleigh Rifles" of Wake County, 14th North Carolina Infantry, Anderson's Brigade, D.H. Hill's Division,
2nd Corps, Army of Northern Virginia, C.S.A.

Residence Montgomery County NC; 24 years old.
Enlisted on 7/16/1862 at Wake County, NC, he was mustered into "K" Co. NC 14th Infantry as a Private.
Present, 7/1862 thru March & April Rolls.
Mortally wounded 5/1/1863 in the Battle of Chancellorsville, VA.; died in General Hospital Camp Winder, Richmond, Va.
His wife, M.A. Sanders, filed a Settlement Claim on 9/21/1863.

The 14th Infantry Regiment, formerly the 4th Volunteers, completed its organization in June, 1861, at Garysburg, North Carolina. Its companies were raised in the counties of Halifax, Onslow, Anson, Cleveland, Wake, Cumberland, Northampton, Stanly, and Davidson.
It sustained 142 casualties at Chancellorsville. (bio by: BigFrench)
