Arthur K. Legg Jr. of Lewes DE died on Thursday, February 22, 2001 in the Beebe Hospital, Lewes, DE of heart failure. He was 70.
Mr. Legg was born in Chestertown, MD, the son of the late Arthur and Violet LeCates Legg Sr. He was an associate Scientist for the DuPont Co. in Wilmington, DE working at the experimental station and retiring in 1993.
He was a former member of the Chestertown Vol. Fire Co., Chestertown, MD and he also served in the Maryland National Guard in Chestertown for nine years. Mr. Legg was a former member of the Mill Creek Lions Club, and was currently serving his second term as President of the Love Creek Woods Home Owners Assoc. He enjoyed golf, surf fishing and loved the Baltimore Orioles. He was an avid Jeff Gordon fan and enjoyed watching NASCAR events. Mr. Legg also enjoyed oil painting and shared his work with many family members.
Mr. Legg is survived by his wife of 50 years, Florence M. "Toddi" Legg; a son, Arthur K. Legg III and his wife, Candy of Newark, DE; two daughters, Terry L. Feret and her husband Tom, of Laurel, DE and Ellen Faries and her husband, Dave of Middletown, DE; a sister, Peggy Schauber Davis of Chestertown, MD and five grandchildren. In addition to his parents, Mr. Legg was predeceased by a brother, James V. Legg.
Funeral Services will be held on Monday, February 26th at 2 PM. From the Fellows Helfenbein & Newnam Funeral Home, 130 Speer Rd., Chestertown, MD where friends and family may call Sunday afternoon from 5-7pm.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions to the American Cancer Society, Eastern Shore Chapter, 1358 Parsons Rd., Salisbury, MD 21801. Interment will follow service in the Chester Cemetery, Chestertown, MD.
